Easter prep
I was looking through a magazine that I had gotten in the mail and saw these adorable sheep make from milano cookies and marshmallows. We are having a special group meeting tonight & I thought this would be fun to give everyone. Little did I know how extremely time consuming these guys are. I think it was worth it though.

Tech Duck pond
Monday was such a beautiful day, I couldn't stand being cooped up in the house so I gave a friend a call. Tyla her son Ben and I ended up going to the Va Tech duck pond. We had a nice picnic lunch and then fed the ducks and a few geese. This guy up front actually walked up to me and ate a piece of bread from my hand.

We went for a short walk and then headed over to the horse stables. They have some beautiful horses, they were just all too far away for us to see them.

First in Bloom
Today I had a class at the rec center but I had been inside all morning preparing for our dinner guest tonight. On my way out I had no idea how wonderful it whas outside. It made me want to go start planting bulbs in my flower beds. On the way back I decided to walk around the house and check on the bulbs that I had left in the ground over the winter and they t
hey were these adorable little white flowers peaking out of the ground. I was super excited to think that our flowers are soon to be beautiful!

Tournament
What a day! After church Joel & I and the rest of the team had to rush home, change clothes and get to the rec center before 1:30 for our first basketball game. The game started at 1:30 and what a game. We were pretty much on fire making great shots, good steals. I got one from the big guy which was a great accomplishment considering he was bigger than Joel. Joel made some great shots and super moves which should have pulled in a lot of fouls but the refs were determined not to call a thing unless it was on Joel. We ended up winning the first game and yes had to turn around and play the same team again. The fact that some of us didnt have time for lunch made this second game pure torture. We went into over time 31 -31. Everyone was wiped at this point but the guys pulled it off with us winning the tournament at 43 -37. What a great game!

Surveying
The snow finally melted enough for Joel to go to the site of his project and do some surveying. He asked me to come and help him out so of course I said yes totally forgetting my last visit where I nearly passed out. My memory quickly came back to me when I opened the door and the strong smell of cow, dampness and mud swooped in. uhhh what a horrible smell.
It was pretty cold where we were and thankfully we were both bundled up pretty good. We started our surveying and all of a sudden something caught my eye. There he was a cute little possum looking around right in front of the truck. I wanted to go take some closeups but since I was holding some of the equipment my stern task master didnt allow it :) ok I think he thought I'd lost my mind. What could be more important than surveying? ~ animals!!!!
I help the surveying stick in one hand and the camera in the other and tried to get a picture of this little guy. He was pretty funny not to mention big.
Next came the cows that were quite interested in why we were there. This little guy was trying very hard to figure us out. He sniffed and held his head high. Then we realized they all thought we had come to feed them so we got on our way quickly before we created a problem.

SKIING at last!
Joel & I finally had the opportunity to get out to the slopes. A free weekend at last! We decided we'd go to Winterplace in WV which was only about 1 hr 1/2 away. It was actually snowing when we got there so the weather was perfect and there was more than enough natural snow to enjoy a great day of skiing. We knew it was no Colorado but we weren't quite prepared for our day of adventure.

We started off on the blue run just to get used to skiing on fresh snow. The funny part was when we got to the end of one run I made a comment on how easy that was and Joel said " that wasn't a blue run that was their green run" the more advance. We looked at each other and just laughed. Their advanced runs were the small version of a bunny slope at Keystone.
There were a fair amount of people there and the later in the day it got the more crowded it got. It took us about 5min. or so to get down the hill and it took a good 10plus min. to get from the lift line to the top of the slopes.

Joel was able to master skiing backwards. I almost got a picture of him but he turned around right as I started to take the picture of him. Finding a spot to stop and take pictures was a little challenging since there were people falling all over the place.

This was my favorite part of the day. I had packed a lunch for us and Joel decided he'd put some bars and a sandwich in his pocket so that we could have lunch without fighting the crowd for a table or walking all the way back to the Tahoe. He always did this in Colorado and it was pretty convenient.
We had seen the moguls on the way up and he wanted to go down so I had a great idea of having him wait at the top of the hill while I went to the next slope and curved around and take pictures at the bottom.
So Joel is patiently waiting at the top of the hill while I take the next turn down a pretty nice hill. This one was my challenge of the day since it had a lot of fresh snow and hidden bumps and was fairly steep. I almost made it to the bottom but there was a really steep section and I couldn't really decide where to go down. Of course the red poles should have been a huge warning sign to me but noooo I chose to ignore them and took off in what I thought would be an easy run to the bottom so if you can imagine seeing this it gets really funny!
I headed for the spot and the next thing I know I'm making a face plant in the snow and sunk. I was in shock of what happen! I'm still head down hill and behind me and I look my right ski is still attached but my left I couldn't see my ski I pull my put out and still no ski.
Yes I decided to ski in the deepest section which is why they had the poles up. I dug around and found my ski. The snow was up to my waist which is why I couldn't ski it. My ski's just went straight down. The bad part was I couldn't get out it was so deep. Joel finally gave up on me and just stood at the bottom laughing. Of course I would do something like that but hey at least I didn't race to the bottom and dislocate my shoulder!
