Weekend Visits

Joel's parents came to visit this weekend so Sat. we hit the Tech bookstore, checked out the nearby farm when I love to look at the sheep squished in one shady spot. These guys were really crammed in there. Most of them resting but there were a few that we actually trying to eat around the other sheep.

Here's Joel's project which has been on hold for quite a while due to the gravel situation. Thankfully he received the correct gravel today and he's happier than ever!

Once we checked out everything at the farm we headed out to Foster Falls park. This is a great place if you want to do some biking, hiking, horseback riding, boating or tubing. We opted to have a picnic in a great shaded spot right beside the river, only to find out later that we weren't supposed to be there.
After lunch we grabbed our poles and chairs and headed for the good fishing spot. No fish were biting but it was a perfect afternoon to sit in the shade get your feet wet and enjoy the sound of the river.

We did go on a little walk but decided that without the shade it was just way too hot!

Can you imagine sitting in a chair looking at this view. Frankly it had more of a pull towards a good nap. There's something about the sound of a river and a nice breeze to put you to sleep.

lil sloaner!

Last Friday we had an ultra sound to see how little sloaner was doing and sure enough we saw a great image of our little one. He or she was wiggling and the heartbeat sounded great. Our Dr. was very excited and Joel and I well we were exstatic!

first fly fishing

Joel and I finally got an opportunity to go fly fishing. Joel was told of a few places that they had stocked with trout. We took the drive out past Hillsville drove around quite a bit & finally found the stream but it was just a tiny spot. The good part it was beautiful, the bad, it was full of poison ivy and poison oak. FUN! Nothing like walking through all that just to find a tiny spot to stand with no trout to catch.

We decided to head for the second spot -little snake river. What a river or not a river. We successfully drove full circle from where we started and then headed another direction & found a trail that went a long the river. It was a pretty spot but getting to it was a little challenging. Nothing but hill. Joel went first and helped me down. Once I got to the bottom I looked back up and of course noticed once again the poison ivy and poison oak uhhhh - going back up should be fun!
We finally gave up and headed home. The trip was fun but we decided we'd stick with what rivers we know.

Gatlinburg Trip!

At last, our Gatlinburg trip! While Joel and I were in Tenn. we took advantage of our time there and went to Ober Gatlinburg, where I used to go when I was little. Wow, so much had changed, I couldn't believe it. There were only a few places I remembered our entire trip.
I think this was Joel's favorite spot. He enjoyed standing on the bridge looking for trout! Of course it was cold and rainy but that didn't seem to bother us too bad. We walked down the streets and had a really good time.

This is one of the places I recognized. I remember when I was little standing at the window watching the guy pull on the taffy and making all different kinds of flavors. Joel and I got a little bit and even got a free piece that was still warm. HMMMM Ok now looking at these next few pictures you're more likely to say what a terrible picture but we need some credit here. Here were inside the tram at who knows how many feet in the air and it was rainy plus it was packed with a lot of people.

This was the interesting house. We were told that only a small portion (ridiculously small) of this house was actually on the ground the rest was just floating. I might have to rewrite this if I worded it wrong!
This was the coolest house, known as the barbie house! It looked it. It was built to look just like barbies house and people actually lived in it. I know because I could see them. Evidently people assume that just because they live on a mountain they don't need to use blinds and curtains but when there is a tram floating right beside you, yep, we can see you!

Here are the bears! Yes this is a terrible picture and you can barely make out the bears but there are 3 of them. We never did go in to see them because the fee was unbelievably high.

This was my favorite spot as a kid. Mom and dad would let me skate all I wanted to while they sat above at a table and watched. SOOOOO much fun! We opted not to skate, I was already tired and really didnt feel like taking a hard hit on the ice.

These people were having so much fun tubing in the rain. It was funny to watch. One man was flying down the hill and had a small video camera taping it as he went down. TOOO FUN!

We ended up going into this hat shop. Joel was looking for a hat to wear while working on the farm and I found this one and was just playing around. Needless to say we ended up buying it. We thought we were going to go to the Dixie Stampede that night but they had sold out. BUMMER!

This was a really fun and relaxing trip ok not entirely but the fact that we found both of our favorite restaurants - Famous Daves and PF Changs, we got to go shopping and take a tour and ended up with a little Sloaner yeah I think it was a pretty good trip after all!

YUM!

This was such a great summer recipe! I received my new cuisine magazine last week and spotted a recipe that I just had to try as soon as possible. It took a few days due to us being on the go but here it was. Lemon Pudding cakes! I loved the fact that you put blueberries at the bottom and poured your pudding on top. This was a cinch to do and perfect for a new and refreshing taste! The recipe is on the side of this blog.
